How the DNS lookup works
The tool asks Cloudflare's public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver for each record type. It shows what the resolver returns, which is what most visitors and mail servers see. For email records in detail, use the email tools on this site.
Frequently asked questions
What does each record type mean?
A and AAAA point to IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. NS names the DNS hosts. MX names mail servers. TXT holds text such as verification and email policy records. CAA limits certificate issuers. CNAME is an alias to another name.
Why do I see no MX records?
The domain does not receive email through that name, or it receives mail through a subdomain. A missing MX record is normal for a website-only domain.
Why do the results differ from another lookup tool?
DNS answers can be cached for the record TTL, and records you changed recently may not have reached every resolver yet. Wait for the TTL to pass and look again.
